The Paraguay Partnership is a program dedicated to forming a solidarity-based partnership with the St. Anthony Catholic community in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay. The goal of the program is a relationship-centered partnership founded on our shared faith, where each partner receives and gives, and teaches and learns from the other.
Some of the program objectives are as follows:
- Develop and maintain a solidarity-based relationship with the St. Anthony Catholic community • Invite Church of St. Peter parish members to learn about Paraguayan culture and history, and about solidarity-based partnerships
- Communicate to the Church of St. Peter parish about Paraguay program activities • Coordinate delegations to/from Paraguay as appropriate
- Administer a scholarship program, Padrinos for Paraguay (Godparents for Paraguay) for children in Coronel Oviedo whose parents cannot afford the tuition for school. Sponsorship is $300 per child per year. See Padrinos for Paraguay application (on this website) for more details.
- Raise funds for the St. Anthony food program, general school needs, and the Padrinos for Paraguay scholarship program.
St. Anthony Catholic School is a 1st-12th grade school located in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay. Paraguay is a landlocked country in the center of South America, with an area roughly the same size as California. Coronel Oviedo is a town in the east-central part of the country. It is located about 95 miles/two hours east of the capital of Asunción.
