Introit: O Lord, if you were to take into account our iniquities
HYMNS:
We Gather Together, #549 (careful, some of the words are different on the recording!)
- We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
he chastens and hastens his will to make known;
the wicked oppressing now cease from distressing:
sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own. - Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
whose kingdom calls all to the love which endures.
So from the beginning the fight we were winning:
you, Lord, were at our side; all glory be yours! - We all do extol you our leader triumphant,
and pray that you still our defender will be.
Let your congregation escape tribulation:
your name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Here Am I, Lord, #695
Here am I, Lord, that you send me;
I have come to do your will.
My delight, Lord, is your wisdom
in the stillness of my heart.
- Long had I waited for you, O Lord,
when you delivered me from harm.
Upon the rock you have steadied my steps,
and a song you put into my heart. - Happy the people who trust in the Lord,
and those who never rebel,
for great indeed are your works, my God.
They are more than anyone can tell. - I have proclaimed your love and your truth
to all who gather in your name.
Do not withhold your compassion, O Lord,
but come and rescue me from harm.
Soul of My Saviour
- Soul of my Saviour, sanctify my breast!
Body of Christ, be Thou my saving guest!
Blood of my Saviour, bathe me in Thy tide!
Wash me, ye waters, gushing from His side! - Strength and protection may His passion be;
O blessed Jesus, hear and answer me!
Deep in Thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me;
So shall I never, never part from Thee. - Guard and defend me from the foe malign;
In death's drear moments make me only Thine;
Call me and bid me come to Thee on high,
when I may praise Thee with Thy saints for aye.
You Satisfy the Hungry Heart, #816
You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of finest wheat;
come give to us, O saving Lord, the bread of life to eat.
- As when the shepherd calls his sheep,
they know and heed his voice;
so when you call your fam'ly, Lord,
we follow and rejoice. - With joyful lips we sing to you
our praise and gratitude,
that you should count us worthy, Lord,
to share this heav'nly food. - Is not the cup we bless and share
the blood of Christ outpoured?
Do not one cup, one loaf, declare
our oneness in the Lord? - The myst'ry of your presence, Lord,
no mortal tongue can tell:
whom all the world cannot contain
comes in our hearts to dwell. - You give yourself to us, O Lord;
then selfless let us be,
to serve each other in your name
in truth and charity.
The Kingdom of God, #639
- The kingdom of God is justice and joy;
for Jesus restores what sin would destroy.
God's power and glory in Jesus we know;
and here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow. - The kingdom of God is mercy and grace;
the captives are freed, the sinners find place,
the outcast are welcomed God's banquet to share;
and hope is awakened in place of despair. - The kingdom of God is challenge and choice:
believe the good news, repent and rejoice!
God's love for us sinners brought Christ to his cross:
our crisis of judgement for gain or for loss. - God's kingdom is come, the gift and the goal;
in Jesus begun, in heaven made whole.
The heirs of the kingdom shall answer his call;
and all things cry "Glory!" to God all in all.
