Church of St. Peter Endowment Funds
St. Peters currently has two endowment funds that were established in 1997. One is the General Parish Operating Fund which has a balance of around $11,000. The other fund is the School Tuition Assistance Fund which has a balance of approximately $38,000. Fr. Byrne has made the largest gift to this fund so far with a contribution of over $20,000.
The theory behind endowment funds is simple. The money in the fund is invested and only a portion of the investment return is spent each year. None of the principle is touched. This allows the fund to grow and overcome the effects of inflation. Income will be generated and used for the intended purpose as long as St. Peter's Parish is in existence.
These endowment funds are managed by the Catholic Community Foundation of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. As a component of the Catholic Community Foundation, these funds take advantage of diversification and leveraging of investments by commingling the assets of our funds with assets of other funds administered by the Foundation. The separate identity of our parish funds will at all times be maintained. The Foundation has invested funds exceeding $163.5 million.
Anyone can donate to these funds at any time. All gifts, small or large, will benefit the parishioners and students at St. Peters for many years to come. Should you wish to make a tax-deducible addition to these endowments, or have a question, please call the parish office at 651-777-8304 or contact the parish administrator Greg Hereford. |
